Many of you have asked about my skincare routine or philosophy. While I don't adhere to a traditional skincare routine, I do have consistent practices that work well for me—and could work for you too. Here's a breakdown of what I do and why, with a reminder that skincare is personal, and what works for me may not be universal.
Firstly, cleansing: I favor a minimalist approach, using lukewarm water for most of my skin, avoiding soaps and cleansers unless necessary under skin folds for hygiene. I skip shampoo and conditioner, opting for water alone to wash my hair.
For moisturizing, I rarely need it due to non-sensitive skin. If dryness occurs, I apply a small amount of shea butter balm consistently to affected areas. Alternatively, white petroleum jelly works similarly well.
Deodorant is a must, and I opt for a fragrance and dye-free stick to minimize dermatitis risks. When shaving, I use Bic razors and aloe therapeutic shaving gel, choosing products that suit my skin without brand loyalty.
Sunblock, when needed, is another essential. I prefer Vanicream products for their effectiveness, although their zinc oxide content can leave a white residue.
My approach revolves around simplicity and purpose. Using minimal products tailored to specific needs ensures I understand their purpose and minimizes unnecessary applications. It's crucial to find what works best for your skin and stick with it consistently.
Remember, skincare is personal. Simplify your routine, understand your products, and prioritize what your skin truly needs over trendy or generic recommendations.
